Mill Down Brut 2010 Vintage is a blend of 66% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier and 14% Pinot Noir. Grapes were harvested by hand in September 2010 when, after a lot of rain, there was was some botrytis in the vineyard. Therefore the grapes were sorted by hand so that only botyrtis free bunches were used. The wine was fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats at 20 degrees. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was kept on the lees for seven months to enhance complexity and flavours prior to blending and bottling. Mill Down Brut 2010 was bottled in May 2011 with secondary fermentation on the bottle taking three weeks. The wine was then kept on the lees for another 22 months before disgorgment. Dosage is 10 g/L.
Hambledon Vineyard Mill Down Brut 2010 is a light, pale straw colour with some green hints and lots of small, fine bubbles. The nose aromas of floral aromas, red apples, some strawberry / red fruit notes and a chalky minerality or stone character. The palate is dominated by citrus / lemon flavours and is very fresh, clean and well-balance with fine mineral character and zingy, refreshing acidity. Good long finish.

Mill Down Brut is a great wine on its own, it is a superb aperitif and also makes a great match to lobster, oysters or strawberries and cream.
