Hugh Liddell says...
We are a farming family based in Hampshire, between Stockbridge and Andover
My parents, James and Rachel Liddell, have lived at Cottonworth since they married. James has run the farm all his working life and is now assisted by Tom, my elder brother.
I run the Cottonworth wine enterprise, having planted our first vines in 2005. I began my wine career in Burgundy, France, where I worked for two years for a Burgundy wine producer while studying at the CFPPA Wine School. I then returned to London, where I dabbled in wine retail and broking, until in 2005 we decided to plant vines on the farm.
In the winter months, as the vines were maturing, I worked vintages in both New Zealand and South Africa before recently attending Plumpton College to gain a foundation degree in Viticulture and Oenology
