Hugh Liddell's family are a farming family based in Hampshire, between Stockbridge and Andover
Hugh's parents, James and Rachel Liddell, have lived at Cottonworth since they married. James has run the farm all his working life and is now assisted by Tom, Hugh's elder brother.
Hugh runs the Cottonworth wine enterprise, having planted their first vines in 2005.
Hugh began his wine career in Burgundy, France, where he worked for two years for a Burgundy wine producer while studying at the CFPPA Wine School. He then returned to London, where he dabbled in wine retail and broking, until in 2005 the family decided to plant vines on the farm.
In the winter months, as the vines were maturing, Hugh worked vintages in both New Zealand and South Africa before recently attending Plumpton College to gain a foundation degree in Viticulture and Oenology

Cotton worth has had a great year (2016) for international medals including 3 golds for our Classic Cuvée and sparkling Rosé from The Champagne and Sparkling wine world Championships as well the International Wine Challenge. Decanter also awarded our Classic Cuvée a silver!
