Griffin Farm Vineyard

The vineyard was first planted in spring 2012. The first modest crop was harvested in September 2014.

We grow the following varieties in quantities large enough to work with contract wine makers.

Bacchus:

Although bred in Germany this variety is widely grown in England to produce high quality aromatic white wine. It is frequently referred to as England’s Sauvignon Blanc.

Solaris:

Another German variety, this one has been bred to be resistant to mildews, reducing the number of times it must be sprayed. It ripens early. Here in the UK it produces a fruity full bodied white wine, while in Germany it more often produces a dessert wine.

We also have experimental quantities of the following vines growing in the vineyard:

  • Chardonnay
  • Pinot Noir
  • Dolcetto
  • Geneva Red
  • Marquette
  • Castel 19637
  • Marechal Joffre
  • St. Pepin
