The Coolhurst Vineyards are nestled in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in West Sussex. Forming part of a seventh generation family estate, we produce one of England’s finest sparkling wines. All our wines are single vineyard and only made from carefully selected and hand picked fruit. Our terroir differs from the chalk seam that accommodates most of our competitors, being sandstone and ironstone. This variant influence results in an English wine; as different from Champagne as is Prosecco and as different from Prosecco as is Cava.

Lady Elizabeth Rosé 2017

Our fourth Lady Elizabeth vintage is released to the open market in time for Christmas 2021.   The year started with a lovely warm March and April and we then had a decent summer and the quality of the fruit was fantastic.  Harvest was wet (as it ever is!) but the carefully selected hand-harvested fruit was safely away at the beginning of October.

Our distinctive pale salmon colour sits alongside deliciously defined fruit.  It’s the full gamut of citrus to peach with red fruit scintillation.  This wine is built to last and will benefit from extended cork aging, but nonetheless is also delicious right now and displays our trademark soft mousse and gentle acidity.

Demi-Sec Rosé Vintage 2016

From a really interesting vintage for Pinot Noir, the grapes were carefully selected hand-harvested fruit, picked much later than usual into the year. After a cooler August and early September, there was something of an Indian summer thus we picked and whole-bunch pressed some wonderful late-ripened pinot.

A pale salmon colour with a fine mousse, this is a off-dry wine. The sweetness is so subtle, carried by bags of red fruit, cranberries, rhubarb and strawberries on the front palate, and pronounced Pinot Noir character on the finish.

The profile is a natural partner for desserts and particularly suited to wedding cake toasts; however the wine’s complexity provides a wonderful counter to rich salty foods, cheeses and even spice.

This is an extremely limited production of less than 1100 bottles.

Lady Elizabeth Sparkling Rose 2016

Our third Lady Elizabeth vintage is the 2016, released to the open market in January 2020. As with all our wines, the grapes were carefully selected hand-harvested fruit but in 2016 they came from a reduced yield following a difficult year with tough growing conditions. After a couple of spring frosts we had a very poor July and August but then some stunning September and October days. With the vines carrying less fruit, what berries there were ripened beautifully and we had a dry harvest with lovely clean fruit.

An attractive pale salmon colour with a soft, fine mousse. Tangy, tangerine fruit on the front palate, and really pronounced Pinot Noir character on the finish.
