White Castle Vineyard

White Castle Vineyard is owned by Robb & Nicola Merchant, it is situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of Monmouthshire in the village of Llanvetherine close to the towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth.

The 5 acre vineyard is planted on a gentle south facing slope that is ideal for growing vines and ripening grapes for Welsh wine.

White Castle Vineyard is dedicated to producing a variety of quality welsh wines using first class viticultural practices.

Visitors are warmly invited to visit White castle Vineyard to experience the beauty and tranquillity of our rural setting.

We have our Award Winning Quality Welsh Wine available for purchase from the Cellar Door. Cellar door open Friday, Saturday, Sunday & bank holidays 10 – 5pm for wine tasting, wine purchases and Gifts.

We offer a conducted vineyard tour followed by wine tasting @ 3pm each day. Monday - Thursday by prior arrangement.

Gwin gwyn 2018	TASTING NOTES Style: Dry & Delicate Colour: Pale Straw Nose: Floral Elderflower Palette: Ripe citrus fruits WINE MAKING The grapes were hand harvested in October 2018 each variety fermented separately in stainless Steel vats, Prior to blending on tasting FOOD NOTES A perfect accompaniment with shell fish, Oysters, Prawns, Chicken, Pasta, Alfresco Dining. Pinot Noir Précoce 2018	TASTING NOTES Style: light Colour: Ruby Nose: vanilla, red fruits Palette: bold flavours of blackberry with hints vanilla well balanced. WINE MAKING The grapes were hand harvested in September 2018 and the juice fermented in stainless Steel vats. FOOD NOTES A perfect accompaniment with Lamb, Fish, Pasta, Cheese or on its own. Sparkling White 2016	Produced using the traditional method and bottle aged for 18 months. TASTING NOTES Style: Elegant Brut, traditionally made sparkling wine. Colour: Pale Straw Nose: Hints of Elderflower and Gooseberry Palette:A delicate mousse with good structure and biscuity flavours indicative of yeast lees ageing WINE MAKING The grapes were hand harvested in 2016 and the juice fermented in stainless steel vats. In 2017 we inoculated the wine with a small amount of yeast and sugar to induce the secondary fermentation and bottled. The best Champagnes and Sparkling wines are made by méthod champenoise which requires a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The wine continued to sit on the lees for a further 18 months before being disgorged. FOOD NOTES Sparkling wine tends to go very well with appetizers. It also goes well with fish and very light meals, and of course as an after-dinner celebration or toast. Serve chilled.	£30.00 Per bottle
Pinot Noir Reserve 2017	TASTING NOTES Style: Light Colour: Ruby Nose: Vanilla, Red Fruits and very light Oak Palette: Bold flavours of blackberry with hints of Smokey Vanilla and well balanced Tannins WINE MAKING The grapes were hand harvested in September 2017 and the juice fermented in stainless Steel vats before the aging in oak barrels . FOOD NOTES A perfect accompaniment with Lamb, Fish, a Pasta dish, Cheese or on its own.	£25.50 Per bottle
