Langham Wine Estate

At the heart of the Langham Estate sits the magnificent Bingham’s Melcombe manor house, Grade I listed and little changed since the reign of Edward VI. Acquired by John Langham in 1980, Bingham’s Melcombe became the centre point for the Langham Agricultural Enterprise, today comprising over 1,000 hectares.

The Langham vineyard was originally established by John Langham on a very small scale. In 2009 John’s son, Justin Langham, decided to develop his father’s rudimental vineyard into a commercial venture, and planted 30 acres of land at their Crawthorne farm.

It's #EnglishWineWeek and the Langham team have chosen a wine each from our range to share with you. We will each share not only our favourite food pairing, but also if favourite musical match! First up we have our Assistant Tasting Room Manager Mark who has chosen to pair our 2020 Pinot Noir with a delicious duck confit with creamy bacon lentils, chantenay carrots, and white turnip. This wine, the first still red produced at Langham, is a light fruity red with delicious ripe cherry notes and very soft tannin. LANGHAM PINOT NOIR 2020	A ruby red, pale red wine. The nose is alive with cherry leaf, rhubarb jam and a subtle smokiness. The palate shows morello cherry, integrated tannins and a balanced acidity. The finish here is a long and leaves you wanting more. This light, fruit forward red is perfect for gamey meats, barbecues, or even slightly chilled on a hot day	£21.00 Per bottle
ROSÉ NV	Our Rosé NV, with base vintage 2018, is a blend of 46% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier and 36% Chardonnay Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks & used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was created including 6% red wine & 15% reserve wine. There are aromas aplenty here with cherry bakewell, pink lady apple skin, raspberry yoghurt & wild strawberries. The palate reflects this fresh red berry profile, but it is also more serious & has great depth. Cherry yoghurt, young wild strawberry & raspberry coulis bring the fruit profile to the forefront, whilst a more savoury & saline note rounds off this wine. A wine suited to all occasions, drinking equally well on its own or with light seafood dishes. Perfect now or age for up to 3 years.	£29.90 Per bottle
CULVER NV	Our Culver Classic Cuvée NV, with base vintage 2018 and 11% reserve wine, is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay A red fruit dominant cuvée with floral and baked apple notes, this wine offers a round palate suited to all occasions, particularly in the autumn & winter months. The Culver drinks equally well on its own, or particularly with charcuterie & cheeses. Perfect now or age for up to 5 years.	£27.50 Per bottle
CORALLIAN NV	Our Corallian Classic Cuvée NV, with base vintage 2017 and 10% reserve wine, is a blend of 62% Chardonnay, 29% Pinot Noir and 9% Pinot Meunier. A pale gold colour with a stream of fine bubbles. Aromas of cut grass, oyster shell and baked apple. The palate has a fine mousse with a saline focus. Stewed apple flavours with an integrated citrus acidity and a long finish. Both fresh and complex. A wine suited to all occasions, drinking equally well on its own or particularly with fish dishes. Perfect now or age for up to 3 years.	£26.00 Per bottle
DORSET ROSÉ 2018	This Rosé is our first ever still made from 82% Pinot Noir and 18% Chardonnay from the outstanding and sunny 2018 vintage. Made thanks to spontaneous fermentation and left unfined. On the nose it has aromas of redcurrant and raspberry leaf with delicious hints of strawberry and red apple on the palate. The finish is creamy and refreshing. This wine can be equally enjoyed as an aperitif or with an al fresco lunch on a wonderful sunny day!	£15.00 Per bottle
DORSET CHARDONNAY 2018	This is our first still 100% Chardonnay from the outstanding and sunny 2018 vintage. Made thanks to spontaneous fermentation, unfined and unfiltered. On the nose it has aromas of kiwi and melon, with fresh salinity and wet stone on the palate. The finish is rich and creamy leaving a long satisfying finish. This wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with something more complex such as white meats or creamy cheeses.	£15.00 Per bottle
PINOT MEUNIER 2017	A superb and rare example of a single varietal 100% Pinot Meunier from our Home Field Vineyard. Primary fermentation took place 100% in used French oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 9 months of élevage, the final blend was bottled and left to age on lees for a minimum of 18 months. At disgorgement the wine received 1.5 g/L dosage and was aged for a further 3 to 6 months under cork. A vibrant golden colour with a steady stream of fine bubbles. The nose is intense and pronounced. Caramelised peach, fresh cream and wet beach pebbles come initially. These aromas are backed up by a delicate wave of floral notes, such as apple and orange blossoms and honeysuckle. The palate is rich and complex with a profile of white peach, pear tarte tatin and salted almonds. A versatile wine suited to all occasions, drinking equally well on its own or with food such as charcuterie, poultry and mushroom-based recipes. Perfect now or age for up to 3 years. BLANC DE BLANCS 2017	This single varietal, 100% Chardonnay from 2017 is a pale gold colour with a fine stream of bubbles. The nose is complex with ripe gala apple and poached pear. There are some floral notes of apple blossom and honey suckle, and a seriousness here too, with wet beach pebbles and toasted granary bread. Well-integrated orchard fruit acidity. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was bottled and left to age on lees for a minimum of 30 months. At disgorgement the wine received 3 g/L dosage and was aged for a further 3 to 6 months under cork. There has been no sulphur added to this wine. Perfect as an apéritif or paired with seafood. Excellent drinking now or age for up to 3 years. Winner of a silver medal at the IWSC 2021 and at Wine GB 2021	£36.00 Per bottle
