Merstone Col Fondo 2022
Merstone wine is made at Hungerhill Vineyard, a family-owned vineyard in Bedfordshire.
Merstone is named after the Marston Valley soil, formed over 150 million years ago by a warm, shallow sea that left traces in oyster shells, fossils, and ammonites. It is also inspired by the historical name of Marston in the 11th century.
Our Col Fondo is made from hand-picked grapes, harvested in October 2022. The Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay grapes from Hungerhill Vineyard were gently pressed in our winery. The vibrant juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels from Burgundy before undergoing a secondary fermentation in the bottle in July 2023.
This semi-sparkling dry wine is unfiltered and cloudy, starting with a citrus nose and has aromas of strawberries, cherries, and raspberries.
Merstone Col Fondo is perfect for appetizers and pairs well with cheese, pasta dishes, or can be enjoyed on its own.
