Dunleavy Vineyards secure dream location alongside cheese producer
Bristol based Dunleavy Vineyards are thrilled to announce the purchase of a picturesque plot of land near the villlage of Kelston on the outskirts of Bristol. The new vineyard site rests on south facing, sandy slopes with incredible views over the river Avon and surrounding countryside.
After years of searching for the perfect site, Dunleavy founder Ingrid Bates has revealed that they recently acquired the land from acclaimed local cheese producer Bath Soft Cheese.
Speaking about this new development, Bath Soft Cheese owner Hugh Padfield said
‘I'm absolutely delighted that Ingrid is joining our little corner of the countryside. We are already exploring some fantastic pairing opportunities and can't wait to welcome more visitors to our farm and share the best of Somerset's produce with them.’
To celebrate this exciting new development, Bath Soft Cheese and Dunleavy Vineyards have joined forces to create some exclusive hampers featuring the best of both producers products.
Looking to the future, the new vineyard site will allow for more grape and wine production, but will also provide a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the beauty of the countryside outside Bath and Bristol. Visitors will be able to enjoy great wines and visit the beautiful Bath Soft Cheese café at their Park Farm base.

‘We're absolutely thrilled to have finally found the perfect piece of land to call home for the future. We're looking forward to getting the new vineyard established and to growing more grapes!’
This acquisition marks a significant step forward for Dunleavy Vineyards. With the vineyard now beginning to take shape, Ingrid is keen to start planting and nurturing the new vines, but the first harvest won't be expected for another three or four years.
‘Planting the vines is just the first step in a long process. It's a labour of love that requires patience. It can take around three or four years for the young vines are mature enough to produce grapes of suitable quality for harvesting. As the saying goes ‘good things come to those who wait’ so we're confident that the end result will be worth it, and we're excited to share the journey with our customers. We can't wait to release our first vintage showcasing the unique terroir of our new site.’
While we're excited about this latest development, we’ll continue to rent and manage our North Somerset vineyard near Wrington and hope the two vineyards will complement each other well in the future.
Dunleavy vineyards ran a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2021 to raise funds to buy some land. Supporters who chose the ‘adopt a vine’ option should have received a thank you e-mail with news of this update, but anyone who didn’t receive one is welcome to reach out at through the contact form on their website.
